On Tuesday, March 30th UConn Early College Experience and the Marine Sciences Faculty invite all certified UConn ECE Marine Sciences Instructors to participate in the annual professional development conference for the 2020-2021 AY.

Sy Montgomery's "The Soul of an Octopus" will be provided to you free of charge in advance of the workshop so you have time to read the book. We plan to provide a Kindle edition of the text with audio and video to all Instructors who register for the event by March 1, 2021.

10:00-11:00 Sharing ideas for projects at home and virtually. Group sharing of applications of new equipment and new ideas

11:10-12:10 Book Discussion of “Soul of an Octopus “ by Sy Montgomery with UConn Faculty panel :

• Jamie Kleinman, Assoc. Professor in Residence of Psychology at UConn Avery Point

• Patti Brown, Adjunct Faculty at UConn Avery Point. Patti was a high school teacher at Fitch and has her master’s from UConn in oceanography and has experience teaching heartfulness/meditation

• Karen Dobley Adjunct Professor at UConn Avery Point who’s expertise is in animal behavior and ecology.

UConn Early College Experience (ECE) is a concurrent enrollment program that allows motivated high school students to take UConn courses at their high schools for both high school and college credit. Every course taken through UConn ECE is equivalent to the same course at the University of Connecticut. Students benefit by taking college courses in a setting that is both familiar and conducive to learning.

High school instructors who have been certified through the University of Connecticut teach UConn ECE courses.

Established in 1955, UConn Early College Experience is the nation's longest running concurrent enrollment program and is nationally accredited by The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).
